NEW DELHI: Vehicle owners who want to convert their diesel-run cars into electric ones will no longer have to visit a regional transport office for physical verification of the car and filling up forms.
Transport minister Kailash Gahlot said in a statement that Delhi will become the first state to launch a faceless service for retrofitting of vehicles. “Citizens can soon get their vehicles converted into electric vehicles from the comfort of their homes. In our bid to make Delhi an EV capital, we have been consistently bringing out new interventions and initiatives, which can help in fast adoption of electric vehicles,” he said.
In June this year, the Delhi government had issued an order allowing petrol and diesel vehicle owners to convert their vehicles into electric vehicles through retrofitting. The government had launched a new portal to bring in both customers and agencies involved in the process of retrofitting vehicles on a common platform.
