NEW DELHI: BJP on Wednesday denounced the AAP government’s order to conduct a special audit of the discoms over power subsidies released to them as a “sham” and demanded an audit by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, “We do not accept the audit of power subsidy by a CAG-empanelled auditor. The government and the discoms can easily influence such an audit.” Has any private auditor ever given a report against his client, he asked.
Delhi government sources said, “It is surprising that BJP is opposing the audit. Delhi government is following the policy of zero tolerance for any theft or disturbance. Everything will come out in the audit.” The discoms didn’t comment.
