The Delhi government has earmarked Rs 500 crore for the Delhi Metro in its 2024-25 Budget, unveiled on Monday, in a bid to bolster public transportation infrastructure. The move comes as Finance Minister Atishi highlighted the exponential growth in ridership, citing a surge from 24 lakh to over 60 lakh daily commuters since 2014.
Presenting a comprehensive budget with a total outlay of Rs 76,000 crore, Atishi emphasised the government’s commitment to providing top-notch public transportation facilities to every Delhiite. Under the stewardship of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, she noted “significant improvements” in the sector.
