NEW DELHI: With 69.9 lakh passenger journeys being recorded on Tuesday, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation achieved a major milestone. It is the highest ever passenger journeys recorded in a day, including both pre and post-Covid periods. The previous record of 68.1 lakh passenger journeys was created just a day before.
Metro officials said during the pre-pandemic time also, the metro saw an increase in ridership around the Raksha Bandhan festival and the same pattern was now being followed as normalcy had returned.
DMRC’s data shows that of the total 69.9 lakh passenger journeys, the highest passenger journeys were recorded in Yellow Line at 19.1 lakh, followed by Blue Line from Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida Electronic City at 14.9 lakh. These two lines are the busiest in the DMRC network.
