KOLKATA: A Delhi-bound Air India flight from Sydney made an emergency landing at Kolkata airport on Wednesday evening after a 50-year-old flier fell sick during the journey and needed urgent medical attention.
Kuldeep Singh Roy, complained of shortness of breath and his skin had started turning blue owing to low oxygen level in the blood. The flight landed at Kolkata airport at 4.50pm and after preliminary diagnosis by the airport doctor, he was rushed to Charnock Hospital, nearest to the airport in an ambulance, where he was admitted and is undergoing treatment.
“The patient was immediately started on high flow oxygen and medicines to increase BP via the central line. Urgent investigations like ECG, ECHO, HRCT thorax, ABG were done.” said a senior official of the hospital.
