NEW DELHI: The plummeting temperature is pushing up the power demand in the national capital. On Wednesday, Delhi’s peak power demand crossed 4,000MW for the first time this winter and surpassed the record for the same period last year.
Wednesday’s peak power demand was 4,196MW as against 3,938MW recorded between December 1 and 16 in 2019, a source said. The peak power demand this December has also increased by 19% as against the December 1-16 period last year and by 14% from the peak power demand of November 2020 — 3,678MW—recorded on November 20.
