NEW DELHI: The government said on Tuesday it will consider requests from individuals to use their business jets to ferry their loved ones from foreign lands, at a time when most international flights are suspended owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Since there was a complete lockdown till last week, there was no question of any request for any charter flights. Now, we will be looking into requests from people who want to use charter flights for evacuation,” civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.
A government official told ET on condition of anonymity that government may also consider allowing charter flights within India. Puri announced the government will operate 64 flights from May 7-13 to bring back stranded Indians from nine countries.
