On July 24, 2020, the civil aviation ministry extended till November 24, 2020 the upper and lower limits on domestic airfares. The aviation regulator DGCA had on May 21 issued seven bands of ticket pricing with lower and upper fare limits till August 24, 2020,
The domestic passenger services were resumed on May 25, 2020 after nearly two months of suspension to combat the covid-19 outbreak. The rating agency Icra in its report has said that the recommencement of commercial passenger flight services in a graded manner is unlikely to help the domestic aviation industry recover in the current financial year. It has estimated that the domestic air traffic would shrink by 41-46 pc and international travel demand by a negative 67-72 pc yoy.
