A man and his wife were electrocuted when they accidentally came in contact with a live electric wire at Kanas village in the district on Sunday morning.
The couple was busy plucking flowers when they unknowingly stepped on the electric wire which was lying on the ground.
Being informed about the incident, police reached the spot and seized the bodies, which were later sent to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for postmortem.
Locals blamed the Energy Department for the death of the couple. They alleged that the wire which had snapped after Cyclone Fani was not repaired by the concerned authorities. After the incident, a pall of gloom descended on the village.
