Coal-based power generation rose 3.12 per cent to 1,00,276 million units in March compared to the year-ago period, according to official data. Thermal power generation stood at 97,238 MU (Million Units) in the same period a year ago. In February this year, it stood at 85,534 MU.
Coal accounts for over 70 per cent of the country’s electricity output and utilities account for around 75 per cent of country’s coal consumption.
