By August, the Public Works Department plans to complete a 14 km-long solar cycle path on Outer Ring Road, stretching from Mukarba Chowk to Jagatpur Khadar Village. The project promises to save Delhi government up to Rs 3 lakh in power bill every year.
It is being touted as the longest cycling track in the country and aims to encourage the use of non-motorised vehicles.
A PWD official said the construction of the track has already started near Mukarba Chowk as well as at the other end. The project, launched in September last year, was initially supposed to be completed by March. However, it got stuck due to operational difficulties.
