Delhi is generating 146 MW solar power by installing rooftop solar panels in schools, markets, institutions and other buildings under Mukhya Mantri Solar Power Yojna. Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain said that immediately after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Government came to power in Delhi, it promoted installation of solar panels in housing societies in Delhi under Mukhya Mantri Solar Power Yojna.
“The rooftop installations of solar panels progressed with significant pace. It has also helped in cutting CO2 emission by 500 tonne every day,” he said.
Delhi Government’s flagship scheme (Mukhya Mantri Solar Power Yojna) was launched in 2018 to transform the power sector in Delhi, he added.
“Now we started installing solar panels in housing societies. From these solar plants, power can be supplied for the common utilities like parking, lift, clubs, gym etc.” he said.
