Chennai: Passengers who reach the city airport will soon get a glimpse of the culture unique to the state as the interior decor of the new integrated terminal will be in sync with classical traditions of language, music, dance and art forms.
With the building set to be commissioned this year, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has started interior work such as ceiling, panelling and painting the structure built between the international and domestic terminals.
The traditional pattern of drawing kolam or rangoli has been incorporated in the design of the terminal building as a part of flooring pattern and ceiling design. The pillars inside the terminal have been wrapped with colours to create an effect of a tree.
