NEW DELHI: State-run Coal India Ltd topped annual production target for the first time in 17 years in 2022-23 on the back of a 13% year-on-year increase in output that facilitated the country’s largest power producer NTPC to score a record 10.8% growth in generation to underline a healthy uptick in economic activities during the fiscal.
Coal India reckons to end 2022-23 with an estimated output of 703.4 million tonne (MT) against a target of 700 MT. The company topped the target with a production of 700.4 MT on Thursday, a day before fiscal closed, marking a volume increase of 81 MT in a financial year. The company’s production stood at 619.8 MT in 2021-22.
The company had last topped its annual goal in 2005-2006 when it produced 343.3 against a target of 343 MT.
