Chhattisgarh on Monday reduced the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by 1 and 2 percent respectively. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held at the official residence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
Briefing newspersons, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said because of the reduction in VAT, the state would incur a financial burden of Rs 1,000 crores.
The cabinet also okayed to continue the paddy and maize procurement as well as custom milling policies of Kharif year 2020-21 in Kharif year 2021-22.
However, the amendments and recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee would be incorporated, he said.
