CHENNAI: From this month-end, it may take more time for motorists to cross Luz Corner as metrorail will barricade parts of the busy junction to build the city’s deepest metro station at Thirumayilai.
The station, which will be an interchange of corridors 3 and 4, will be linked by eight tunnels from Lighthouse, Royapettah, Mandaveli and Bharatidasan Road.
The construction of the station and the tunnels pose a challenge as they have to be cut through rocky soil at 35 metres depth.
