CHENNAI: Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has dismissed allegations that undue advantage was provided to Alstom Transport during the procurement of rolling stock in 2010 for Phase I by an addendum issued on the applicability of customs duty on the trains procured. It has clarified that all procurements were based on fair and robust practices.
Recently, Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai alleged that chief minister M K Stalin took a bribe in the run-up to the 2011 elections for favouring Alstom in the CMRL contract.
While Stalin had already denied the claim as baseless and a political stunt by the opposition party, a CMRL statement on Saturday said the allegations were factually incorrect.
