KOLKATA: CESC is sending a guideline on electrical safety to nearly 3.5 million consumers. According to a CESC spokesman, since monsoon is the worst time for electrical accidents, the company had drawn up a list of dos and don’ts. Users have been advised not to use cellphones while they are being charged; switch off and unplug electrical appliances during lightning and heavy rain and avoid inundated streets.
The advisory is divided into two segments, one for home and the other outdoors. The suggestions at home include periodical checks on wiring and switches in the house and replace old and frayed wires; and avoid using extension wires on window grilles.
“Do not neglect any smell or mild shock from switches and appliances. If you cannot identify the source of shock, turn off the main switch and call the CESC helpline 1912,” the CESC official said.
