Centre to increase imported coal blending to meet power demand

The Centre is likely to direct power generators to increase imported coal for blending to at least 6% of their requirement from the current 4% in the wake of fast-depleting stocks at power plants.

“Because there is a daily deficit [difference between supply and use] now, so imported coal blending is being ordered to be increased to at least 6%,” a government official told ET. “The direction will be issued soon.”
