MUMBAI: Central Railway has flagged multiple issues with the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) about air-conditioned electrical multiple unit (EMU) rakes following at least one complaint a day on average related to leaking ducts or non-functioning cooling systems since February.
AC EMU rakes, which have been deployed on both CR and Western Railway, were manufactured at ICF and the electricals were provided by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. While CR runs a total of 56 services with 5 rakes, WR operates 79 AC services.
CR divisional railway manager Shalabh Goel said, “There are some manufacturing defects which we have flagged to the ICF, both orally as well as in writing.
