NEW DELHI: A Canadian employee of a private airline was abducted and robbed after he boarded a taxi from the airport that had offered to drop him to the parking area where a cab sent by his company was waiting.
The victim, Mohammad Mehdi Ghazanfani, told the police that he had reached Terminal 1 around midnight on July 12 and was provided a hired cab by his company. When he called up the taxi service, he was asked to reach the parking area designated for the airline. Ghazanfani found a cab driver and asked him for the way to the parking and was told that it was about 100 metres away from the terminal building.
Ghazanfani said the driver offered to drop him to the spot for Rs 100. As he boarded the car, he found three other people already sitting inside, one of whom was hiding in the back seat. They said they were also passengers like him.
