Chennai: Cab aggregators and bus operators have sought a reduction in charging fee and an exemption of tolls as an incentive to promote electric vehicles in the state.
The government’s electric vehicle policy of 2023 had several lacunae in providing adequate incentives and creating infrastructure, said R Dharmaraj of the Bus and Car operators Confederation of India, during a panel discussion on electric mobility. The event was held by ITDP and Climate Trends. “Electric buses should be exempted from tolls as a part of the policy to incentivize conversion,” he said.
