The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Rs 1,261 crore proposal to provide drones to 15,000 progressive women self-help groups (SHG) to help them provide these drones on rent to farmers for agricultural purposes.
As a part of the plan, the government will provide women SHGs 80% of the cost of the drone or its accessories and ancillaries for a maximum of up to Rs 800,000, while the rest of the amount can be raised by the cluster-level federation of the SHG as loan.
