The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Rs 6,238-crore Production-Linked Incentive scheme for white goods (air conditioners and LED lights) aimed to generate incremental production worth Rs 1.68 lakh crore and exports worth Rs 64,400 crore in five years. It also cleared a Rs 4,500-crore PLI scheme for high efficiency solar PV modules that would add 10,000 MW capacity of integrated solar PV manufacturing plants and bring direct investment of around Rs 17,200 crore in solar PV manufacturing.
