Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveying the state government’s willingness to accommodate the proposed Mumbai-Nashik-Nagpur high-speed rail (HSR) corridor along the under-construction Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway or the Samruddhi Mahamarg. The chief minister also proposed that the Centre should take up Mumbai-Hyderabad high-speed rail corridor via Jalna-Nanded using the proposed Jalna-Nanded expressway. The CM also requested that the railways should build a high-speed corridor between Pune-Aurangabad.
The letter came over a week after Thackeray, at a public function, pledged support for the Mumbai-Nagpur high-speed rail project to the minister of state for railway Raosaheb Danve.
