With the objective of providing logistics support to the troops on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has constructed a new road near Doklam in Sikkim region. This area saw a 73-day stand-off between the Indian and Chinese armies in 2017 when the former protested against the construction of a road by the Chinese in the strategically important zone.
The new motorable road for moving troops to Dokala, on the edge of the Doklam plateau, was only a mule track earlier thereby causing delay in maintaining logistical support. The new road from Bheem base to Dokala was completed last year, officials said here on Thursday.
