MUMBAI: Ahead of Ganeshotsav celebrations in Mumbai to be held next month the BMC on Tuesday has cautioned devotees over the use of old and dangerous road over bridges (ROB’s), especially those that are currently under repair.
On bridges like the Curry Road Station ROB and the Chinchpokli Railway Station Bridge on Sane Guruji Marg weight restrictions have been placed stating that organisers should not carry more than 16 tonnes weight at a time. Devotees have been urged to refrain from dancing on these bridges too with loudspeakers in order to maintain a steady procession without unnecessary stops. “Devotees should not crowd the bridge at one time, proceed over the bridge immediately without stopping for a long time and follow the directions given by the police and BMC,” said a BMC official.
