Kolkata: A part of Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road will be blocked in the next few days for East-West Metro’s ground freezing work, which was due to start on Thursday. KMRC is drawing up a revised traffic block plan ahead of shifting the CESC cable line below Nirmal Chunder Street, where the actual ground freezing will be done to firm up the soil ahead of linking the twin tunnels with the nearby passenger ventilation shaft, to Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road.
The 33KV underground cable will have to be relocated away from the impact zone of ground freezing—across Lenin Sarani to the northern end of Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road. Around 2m of this road from the Lenin Sarani crossing to Indian Mirror Street will be blocked for relaying the electric cables.
