CHENNAI: BJP Tamil Nadu unit staged a human chain protest along the Poonamallee High Road near Dasaprakash bus stand in Chennai on Tuesday demanding that the Tamil Nadu government reduce VAT (value-added tax) on fuel.
State BJP secretary Sumathi Venkatesan led the protest. It was part of the state-wide protest pressing for the reduction of the fuel price. Nearly 100 BJP members participated in the protest.
Since the Union government had reduced the petrol price by Rs 5 and diesel price by Rs 10, the state unit of the saffron party has been organising various protests across the state demanding that the DMK government fulfil its poll promise by reducing the fuel price.
