Chennai: A bird’s nest that fell on the overhead power cable disrupted metro train services after the line snapped. This forced many office-goers to wait longer than usual for trains or look for alternate transport to their workplace.
Officials said the fault was identified in the overhead equipment (OHE) in Guindy metro station at 8am after a train operator noticed the snapped cable and informed the official at the operation control centre.
Services were disrupted as trains on the blue line were operated from Wimco Nagar depot station to Little Mount. Trains were operated on a single line between Little Mount to Alandur metro at 10-minute frequency and short loop service was operated from Alandur metro to Airport at five-minute frequency.
