A biogas and manure plant is expected to take shape in the near future in the holy city of Haridwar. Plans are afoot to make this plant which will convert the solid waste into biogas and manure. The officials of Municipal Corporation of Haridwar and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) recently held a meeting in state guest house to work out plans for this biogas plant. The Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik has stated that effort should be made to make this plant operational before the Maha Kumbh Mela of 2021.
Solid waste management is a major problem of the city which this plant can take care of, feel the officials. If everything goes as planned, soon the city will get some respite from the solid waste which shall be converted into fuel and residue into manure.
