KALYAN/THANE: In two major pothole-related accidents this monsoon, a 32-year-old biker died on the spot after he fell off his bike while avoiding potholes and was run over by a dumper at Dwarli on Shree Malang Gad Road in Kalyan on Thursday night and another biker fell and suffered severe injuries while crossing a damaged portion of Ghodbunder Road in Thane early on Friday.
The deceased biker from Kalyan had worn a helmet.
Due to heavy rainfall, potholes have emerged on several roads in Kalyan-Dombivli and the pockmarked Dwarli stretch, said locals. In 2018 and 2020, two bikers had similary died at the stretch, they said.
