New Delhi : State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) today said that it has commissioned the first 500 MW unit at the Chandrapur Super Themal Power Project in Maharashtra.
“BHEL has successfully commissioned the first 500 MW unit at the 2×500 MW Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Project, Stage 3 of Maharashtra State Power Generation Company in Maharashtra,” the company said in a statement.
It added, “Work on the second 500 MW unit of stage 3 of the project is going on and the unit is expected to be commissioned in financial year 2015-16.”
BHEL’s scope of work in the contract envisaged design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers, along with associated auxiliaries and electricals, the company said.
Meanwhile, the company also said that it has been a partner in the power development of Maharashtra and contributed more than 15,000 MW of generating capacity, the highest for any state.
