The Centre’s long in-the-works Bharatmala Project – an ambitious plan to develop over 30,000 km in national highways – is seeing time and costs rise, according to a new report.
According to the Icra NSE 1.24 % authored report, the project is likely to be complete in FY28, a six year delay from the original timeline. As it stands, the cost of the project has already risen by 99% to Rs 10.63 lakh crore and is poised to see another 15-20% increase.
