MUMBAI: The BEST on Thursday released a detailed ground survey report on bus route number 627 passing through two narrow Juhu lanes.
The bus service on these lanes has become a bone of contention between two groups of local residents — with one citing need for pedestrian and fire safety, while the other banking on public transport for the poor.
The Gandhi Gram Road Residents Association have petitioned BEST, demanding diversion/re-routing of bus route 627 from Gandhi Gram Road and G B Jukar Marg, which they said were narrow, caused traffic congestion and made it difficult for pedestrians to walk. A resident said that in the past, fire engines couldn’t enter the lanes due to congestion, mostly by buses.
