Mumbai: The 10.8 lakh-plus BEST power consumers in the island city have to maintain a security deposit equivalent to twice of the average of the last 12 months, said spokesperson Manoj Varade on Tuesday, adding that this was as per MERC Electricity Supply Code and Regulations, 2021. A few BEST consumers told TOI that it was “an additional burden”, apart from the hefty power bills due to levy of fuel adjustment charges.
