BENGALURU: If you thought only pandemic-related compulsions such as work from home could inflate your electricity bill, you might have to brace for a rude shock. The government is thinking of introducing a new solid waste management (SWM) user fee component in your electricity bill, further blowing it up.
A proposal, which was mooted in November 2020 and placed on the back burner for political reasons, is being pushed forward again with the intention to mobilise around Rs 300 crore annually towards garbage management.
