Hours after a 22-year-old woman negotiating a flooded Whitefield Main Road died due to electrocution on Monday night following heavy rains in Bengaluru, the city police on Tuesday registered a case of death due to negligence against Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials.
Akhila, who used to work as a receptionist at a private firm, was returning to her home in the Sarjapura area on her scooter when she lost balance near Mahira Bakery around 9.30 pm and fell, the Whitefield police said. “She lost her balance and touched an electric pole and then she was electrocuted. It happened on the main road,” Whitefield Deputy Commissioner of Police S Girish said.
