BENGALURU: Namma Metro’s daily ridership crossed the 8-lakh mark on Monday, the highest ever since it commenced operations in 2011.
BMRCL records show the ridership on August 15 was 8.2 lakh, including Purple Line (2.5 lakh), Green Line (over 4 lakh) and Majestic interchange (1.6 lakh). Monday’s revenue was Rs 1.4 crore.
The spike in ridership was mainly on Green Line (Nagasandra-Silk Institute) due to the Congress rally at National College Grounds in Basavanagudi as well as the Lalbagh flower show. Congress purchased around 1 lakh Metro passes for the rally.
According to BMRCL records, its previous highest daily ridership was over 6 lakh on October 25, 2019.
