The Batote-Kishtwar national highway, the only road link between Doda and Kishtwar districts, is becoming a death trap for commuters. The highway also passes through Ramban district.
The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), which looks after the maintenance of the highway, had blacktopped parts of the road two years ago, but it has now developed potholes.
At places, the road is sinking and the threat of accidents has increased manifold. As protection walls are collapsing, fresh landslides are causing more damage to the highway.
