Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and his predecessor and BJP leader Raman Singh were on Wednesday locked in a war of words over the Enforcement Directorate’s raids in the state.
Singh had alleged a nexus between the coal mafia and the Chhattisgarh government and accused Baghel of acting as an ATM for Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Countering, Baghel asked the BJP leader to apologize for his comments or face a defamation suit.
The Chief Minister accused the ED of raiding Chhattisgarh officials and businessmen at the behest of the BJP government at the Centre.
“The central agency is politically inclined and has conducted raids in states governed by opposition parties,” he said.
