With Punjab’s fund-starved power utility bleeding Rs 54 crore in subsidies every day and reportedly borrowing Rs 500 crore to pay slaray to its staff, one of its senior officials has now written to the government saying he wants to pay for the 300 units of free electricity that he is getting every month.
Karamjeet Singh, Private Secretary to Chief Engineer (MM), Patiala Division, in a letter to power utility’s chairperson ha written that he was getting zero bills against two meters installed in his and his wife’s names. But he wants to pay the bill as he was concerned about the loan taken by the power utility.
