MUMBAI: The Go First debacle and the subsequent recruitment drive launched by Air India to hire the beleaguered carrier’s A320 pilots has once again brought to fore the issue of prolonged notice periods for cockpit crew in India.
Go First, like most other Indian carriers, has set the duration of notice period post-resignation at six months. If Go First pilots are to honour the clause they would lose out on job opportunities that have sprung up after their airline initiated insolvency proceedings early this week.
“For now though, many have adopted a wait and watch policy while also appearing for interviews with other carriers,” said a senior Go First pilot, requesting anonymity. On Friday, about 150 A320 pilots gave interviews at the Air India recruitment drive held in its Kalina office, said a source.
