Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections due next year, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced that electricity power subsidy will be extended for tenants. From now on, tenants can install prepaid meters which will be used for domestic purposes.
‘Tenants will have to get prepaid meter installed after depositing security money of ₹3,000,” said Kejriwal.
Under ‘Mukhyamantri Kirayedaar Bijli Meter Yojna’, meters will be programmed in a way that up to 200 units will be free. Those in Delhi, who consume up to 200 units of electricity, need not pay their electricity bills.
