The road from Anandpur Sahib to Kahanpur Khui, which is in a bad shape, has claimed the life of a 32-year-old man late last night. The deceased was identified as Balwinder Singh, a resident of Lodhipur village.
Anandpur Sahib SHO Suvinder Singh said Balwinder Singh was going towards Anadnpur Sahib on a two-wheeler. He lost the balance after hitting a pothole in the middle of the road due to which he fell down and died due to head injuries.
The road from Anandpur Sahib to Kahanpur Khui continued to pose threat to motorists even as the PWD had spent over Rs 85 lakh on its repair last year. Potholes on the 16-km stretch had started emerging even before the repair work was completed in August last year. Soon, the road returned to its previous state and nothing much was done to provide relief to the commuters despite several protests by local residents.
