The aviation ministry will develop Guna and Shivpuri airports under the ude desh ka aam nagrik (UDAN) and has allocated Rs 45 crore each for these two places. Both these airports are with Madhya Pradesh government.
Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is contesting from the Guna parliamentary constituency. Scindia, who was in the Congress until 2020, had represented the Guna constituency from 2002 to 2019. This constituency has been represented by Scindia’s grandmother Vijaya Raje Scindia and father Madhavrao Scindia.
“The ministry/Airports Authority of India (AAI) has allocated Rs 45 crore for development of Guna Airport. AAI has also agreed to provide communications, navigation & surveillance (CNS)/ air traffic management (ATM) and aeronautical information services (AIS). AAI has also agreed to be designated as the operation and management services provider for Guna Airport,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Shivpuri airport has been identified under UDAN 5.2 with a 9-seater type of aircraft. Bids from Shivpuri to Bhopal are bided by the new start-up airline Spirit Air. The ministry has allocated Rs 45 crore to develop the airport,” the statement said. AAI will provide the same services like Guna.
“People of Shivpuri and Bhopal including the ones from adjoining areas will get direct air connectivity between Shivpuri and Bhopal. Apart from the seamless movement of passengers, it will boost trade, commerce, and tourism to enhance the economic activity of the region,” it added.
