NEW DELHI: A flight crew member and a catering employee were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold worth Rs 72.5 lakh at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
On seeing the customs officials, the crew member, who had come in a flight from London on Sunday, had hidden the gold in the overhead bin of the aircraft, an official said.
The customs officials identified the two accused and apprehended them. They found four gold bangles coated in silver paint in the aircraft. The total weight of the gold was 1.7kg.
