Mumbai: The city crime branch has arrested three men who allegedly booked airline tickets by providing fake email IDs and mobile numbers causing loss to the payment gateway. Raj Pratap Singh (27), Raghvendra Parmar (38) and Pransingh Parmar (48) have been booked for cheating, forgery, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy, and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Singh, a class XII dropout, is the kingpin, the police said.
Police said though the accused have been running the racket for the last three years, the case came to light after a Ghatkopar resident who had booked his air ticket through them found differences in his name, mobile number and PNR number.
“The complainant had booked an air ticket through the accused, but when he got the printout of the ticket he found a wrong mobile number and email address. As a foreign language was used in the enclosure, he suspected something amiss and reported the matter to us,” said investigating officer Manish Shridhankar of crime branch unit 7. Shridhankar then himself booked a ticket through Singh and noticed similar discrepancies.
