NEW DELHI: Art works by master artists Jatin Das, Anjali Ela Menon and MF Hussain and a limited-edition porcelain ashtray designed in the 1960s by surrealist Salvador Dali for Air India’s first class international passengers, are among the many rare artworks from the former national carrier’s ‘Maharaja Collection’ that will find a new home at the National Gallery of Modern Art soon.
The collection is presently housed at the iconic Air India building in Mumbai.
Following an agreement between the ministries of civil aviation and culture, the NGMA will take over the Maharaja Collection and make the collection accessible to a wider audience.
