Tata Group-owned Air India will buy 470 new planes from Airbus and Boeing as the carrier embarks on a revival journey under the ownership of the salt-to-steel conglomerate. The carrier is getting 250 planes from Airbus and 220 from Boeing at a total estimated worth of about $100 billion at list prices, making it one of the biggest purchases in modern aviation history. Large orders, however, involve big discounts from manufacturers.
